The Australian gambling operator, Tabcorp, will be linking up with the newspaper publisher News UK, to launch a new online betting and gaming business that will operate in the UK and Ireland.

'Sun Bets', has been developed in partnership with the News UK title The Sun, will be going live in the UK and Ireland in the new year.

The agreement was structured as a revenue share agreement, with News UK, on order to undertake internal and external media promotion of their new business.

In return, Tabcorp will be providing News UK with a revenue share from the new business each year.

Sun Bets will be incorporating The Sun newspaper, and 'Dream Team FC and "Goals' which are associated sports and racing products.

This agreement, is to run for an initial period of 10 years and remains subject to Tabcorp being able to secure the necessary licences and regulatory approvals.

The Sun currently has over than 10 million readers weekly and more than one million football fans who actively engage through The Sun's Dream Team FC fantasy football competition said the managing director of Tabcorp and their chief executive, David Attenborough.

The partnership provides Tabcorp and the Sun new opportunity to be able to create a leading online bookmaker in the UK's market under the Sun Bets brand which they will do over the coming years and also fits with their strategy to pursue close-to-core international opportunities.

Rebekah Brooks, the chief executive of News UK, said that the deal with Tabcorp will mark a pivotal moment within the digital transformation of the company, they will be creating a world-class online sports book, which will engage as well as entertain the public who bet, in the inimitable style of The Sun.

These two powerful brands, the Sun and their Dream Team fantasy football competition has already done incredible reach and they have every confidence that this would be a very rewarding partnership, that will see Sun Bets is firmly established as a key player, on the online betting business.
